Our work with the Duckworth Lab focuses on characterizing environmental compounds such as siderophores and mycogenic manganese oxides in order to increase our understanding of the role they have in the biogeochemical cycle. Relating molecular structure to chemical properties provides unique insight into how these compounds function and promises to lead to technological advances such as novel environmental remediation strategies and advanced energy storage capabilities.
